2020 was a challenging year for California, with Robert Parker giving Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon an 87-point score, mainly due to issues with wildfires. Despite this, some producers, through careful selection, managed to produce wines with good concentration and structure.

Our Review

This is definitely one of the better Zinfandels I know. That touch of Petite Syrah does it good, making it just a bit better in terms of balance as well. Well-integrated, smooth with enough depth and freshness (which Primitivo / Zinfandel often lack). In terms of quality, this is really a few steps up compared to a fine Primitivo (which is the same grape).

Serve at around 16–18 °C to allow the structure and complexity to fully come into their own.

Rombauer Vineyards was founded in 1980 in Napa Valley and grew into one of the better-known producers of Californian wines. The winery is particularly known for its rich style and consistent quality, with both Chardonnay and Zinfandel playing an important role within the range.
