In Alto Adige, Mediterranean warmth meets cooling Alpine influences in a distinctive mountain landscape.
- Location / origin: The grapes for this Alto Adige DOC grow on slopes at an altitude of 200–400 meters, near the mountains.
- Soil: The vineyards have calcareous soils with clay and gravel, where moisture-retentive and well-draining components complement each other.
- Climate & influences: Warm, sunny days alternate with cool nights. Mountain breezes and, in the region, the Ora wind from Lake Garda contribute to these pronounced diurnal temperature variations.
Gentle processing and maturation in steel tanks align with the wine's delicate fruit.
- Harvest and pressing: The grapes are hand-picked and transported in small crates to keep them intact. They are then immediately pressed gently.
- Fermentation and maturation: The juice ferments at 19 °C in small stainless steel tanks and matures there. A partial malolactic fermentation softens some of the acidity and contributes to the round mouthfeel.
This wine showcases the soft, fruity side of a grape also known as Ruländer in South Tyrol.
- Pinot Grigio – Alto Adige: Provides the delicate fruit and round structure, with pear and peach as recognizable aromas.
