It took ten years of secret work to ensure the perfect fusion of the three grape varieties. The old vineyard is filled with Vermentino, Marsanne, and Macabeo grapes, which thrive in a climate that alternates between warm and cool. The warmth naturally comes from the sun, as the vineyard is perfectly positioned to face the sun. The grapes ripen steadily and develop a wealth of aromas and flavors. The wind and falling nighttime temperatures cool the harvest and contribute to the even growth of all the grapes. This way, the grapes retain their freshness, which is evident in this Cazes white wine.

The smell and taste of the Domaine du Grand Chêne Blanc

Upon opening the bottle, we immediately smell the French sun, abundant ripe aromas of citrus, green apple, and a touch of fresh, unripe peaches. Grab a large glass, as this white wine needs air to develop. As we pour, we notice a golden yellow color, thanks to its long aging on the lees. This aging gives the Domaine du Grand Chêne Blanc considerable power, which is also evident in the aroma. Nosing the glass, we noted predominantly white blossom, green apple, pears, citrus peel, and a touch of fresh, ripe grapefruit. We took a sip, and the wine captivated our senses, with a powerful presence and a lovely, fresh attack on the palate. Impressions of white and citrus fruit ensure a lingering finish. On the back of the palate, this white wine also offers a lovely interplay of green herbs and a touch of fresh peaches.
