And we owe it all to the world-renowned winemaker Baron Philippe de Rothschild. This fine man began 100 years ago in Bordeaux but quickly recognized its potential overseas, in Chile. Thanks to the consistent climate and perfect location, Chilean wines are rapidly gaining popularity.

The vineyards of Escudo Rojo Syrah

There's no one like Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The winery behind this winemaker has vineyards all over the world. Thanks in part to his daughter, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, they've acquired beautiful vineyards in Chile. The grapes for Escudo Rojo Syrah are grown in the most beautiful locations in the Maipo Valley wine region, one of Chile's finest wine regions. After being harvested by hand, the Syrah grapes are fermented. The fermentation and winemaking methods are almost identical to those Baron Philippe de Rothschild once employed in Bordeaux.

Impressions of Escudo Rojo Syrah

The distinctive character of Syrah is perfectly expressed in this exquisite wine. A crown jewel, of which they are quite proud at Escudo Rojo. Your senses will be in overdrive the moment you pour this beautiful red wine. The aroma is open, sparkling, and distinct. Initially, you'll smell plenty of black fruit, such as fresh blackberries and black currants. But swirl Escudo Rojo Syrah generously in your glass, revealing notes of oak and black pepper. The palate is robust and slightly peppery. You'll taste dark fruit on the tongue. The cheeks are lingering with hints of pepper and roasted nuts. We call the finish heavenly, making Escudo Rojo Syrah, in our opinion, a truly perfect wine.
