A sensational wine from one of the most beautiful wineries in the Loire region. Joseph Mellot founded his winery in 1513. At the time of its centenary, Joseph Mellot was already a purveyor to the Sun King, Louis XIV. From the beginning of the 20th century, in addition to its famous wines based on Sauvignon Blanc, it also began producing wines in Sancerre, Pouilly Fume and Menetou Salon. From the 1980s onwards, Joseph Mellot grew explosively and is now one of the largest, but also one of the most renowned producers in the Loire Valley.

This wine from Joseph Mellot is also made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, a grape that has achieved enormous international fame thanks in part to this winery. The Menetou Salon region lies just west of Sancerre, which is also the home of Joseph Mellot. Although Menetou Salon doesn't yet have the fame of its bigger brothers, Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, Joseph Mellot Menetou Salon shouldn't be underestimated. The grapes are all hand-picked, as Joseph Mellot's winemaker wants to use only the finest grapes in his wine. The vineyards for Joseph Mellot Menetou Salon are specially demarcated for Mellot. This wine is in line with Joseph Mellot's other wines. But perhaps it possesses a touch more elegance, flavor, and character than the others. Judging by our vinologists' tasting notes, expectations are high. A full, rounded wine brimming with finesse and refinement. The vineyards' soil consists of slate on marl, something you immediately discover in the aroma and taste. You smell beautiful aromas of lime and citrus, as well as chalk and minerals. The palate is sublime. Full aromatic notes of peach, citrus, and flowers. The finish seems lingering. In our opinion, Joseph Mellot Menetou Salon is a truly perfect wine.Product details
