What an inspiring wine this white Gemischter Satz Harmony from the Pfaffl winery is! The old vineyards are located around Bisamberg, on a soil partially composed of "Flysch," a local term for clay and sandstone. The vines, filled with Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling, are deeply rooted and absorb abundant nutrients from the soil. This lends a distinctive style to this Pfaffl white wine, but that's not all, as the climate is also perfect. The warm afternoons and cool nights ensure a calm growing season in which the grapes get everything they need.

Ideal conditions for Pfaffl wines

In 1978, young Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl became the owners of Weingut Pfaffl in Stetten, a village just north of Vienna in the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. Lower Austria is the region surrounding the capital Vienna and is Austria's largest wine-growing region. Loess soils, warm days, and cool nights. Before 1978, the Pfaffl farm revolved around growing grains, potatoes, and raising cows and pigs. Much has changed in a short time. Today, Pfaffl is an international symbol of Grüner Veltliner. They have even been named European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast.

The harvest of the Pfaffl Gemischter Satz

The harvest is brought in early in the morning to protect the grapes from the sun. They are transported in small crates to the press, where they are gently pressed. The golden juice is of excellent quality and renowned throughout the wine region. On the nose, this Gemischter Satz Harmony offers hints of lime, lemon, green apple, and a hint of green asparagus. The palate is refreshing on the palate with plenty of fresh white and citrus fruit. On the back of the palate, the interplay of the three grape varieties begins with light green herbs, gooseberries, and a hint of gooseberry. The finish is long and fresh with lovely, light acidity that completes this white wine.
