Vintage Report
Thanks to abundant sunshine, the grapes in 2023 ripened perfectly, while cool night breezes provided the necessary cooling. This resulted in a Riesling with a powerful character and a lively freshness.
A typical village wine from Rüdesheim. This classic Riesling is harvested primarily from the Bischhosberg and Klosterlay plots. Thanks to a high loess content on the Taunus quartzite base, the wines are creamier yet have a firm structure.
August Kesseler's high quality standards
August Kesseler is one of Germany's most charismatic and successful winemakers. The winery is located in Assmannshausen am Rhein in the western Rheingau, right on the slopes of the famous "Assmannshäuser Höllenberg" vineyard. August Kesseler took over the business from his parents in 1977 at the age of 19 and has consistently led it to the top of the Rheingau. The quality standards are high, and the work is exceptionally hard, but the rewards they receive are, in their own words, more than worth the hard work. The premium Pinot Noir is world-renowned, while the Rieslings and noble sweet specialties also rank among the top international producers. Today, the company owns 22.5 hectares of vineyards, spread across the municipalities of Assmannshausen, Rüdesheim, and Lorch. Thanks to the abundant sunshine, the grapes ripen perfectly. At night, a cool breeze provides the necessary cooling. The soil consists of quartzite and a high proportion of sandy loam. This also gives the Riesling its unique character. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After this, the wine is allowed to rest for a while before being bottled. Because each wine must be perfect, according to August, they are always strictly controlled. Only the very best are allowed to bear the Kesseler label. And that is certainly the case with this Riesling.Enjoy a delicious fruity Riesling from Kesseler
It sparkles with its lemon-yellow color in the glass. If you look closely, you'll also see a greenish hue. You're immediately struck by the aromas of white pear, ripe apple, stone fruit, apricot, peach, and nectarine. Deliciously fruity. The palate is rich and powerful, just the way we like it in a Riesling. It has subtle notes of stone fruit and pear and a lively freshness. Absolutely delightful!Product details
