In the remote, cool reaches of the Anderson Valley, these vineyards struggle to thrive in the poor, nutrient-poor soil. Fortunately, they are regularly shrouded in mist from the nearby ocean. These conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, contributing to the unique freshness and depth of Stormin Pinot Noir.
After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes from various plots are processed in a unique way. Some batches are fermented whole bunches, which gives the wine greater structure and complexity. The wine then matures for 15 months in a mix of new (30 percent) and used oak barrels before being carefully blended. This approach, combined with bottling without filtration or clearing, allows the Stormin Pinot Noir to develop its full, rich character.
The Maggy Hawk Stormin Pinot Noir tantalizes the palate with a rich blend of aromas. Think dark chocolate, juicy black cherries, roasted chestnuts, and a hint of candied ginger. The addition of lavender and subtle earthy notes adds depth to the tasting experience. This wine is beautifully rounded out with soft tannins and refreshing acidity, creating an unforgettable finish.
