Vintage Report

The 2016 Barolo vintage in Piedmont received an extraordinary score of 97 points from Robert Parker. It is a classic year of absolute top quality, with wines that are impressive, tannic, and very suitable for long-term aging.

Speaking of the cream of the crop. An excellent glass of Barolo, which is absolutely not standard. We expected nothing less from the leading winery Boroli, which has taken on a leading role in Barolo wines. They consistently produce high-quality red wines. Their quality, in addition to their dedication, is due to the vines, which are over 40 years old. These are planted in the most beautiful cru fields of Barolo: Villero in Castiglione Falletto. Just the sight of the vineyards makes us fall in love with the wine; beautiful rows of Nebbiolo vines rolling through the Italian landscape.

Perfection for Boroli Barolo Villero

The impressive Boroli winery was founded by the eponymous Piedmontese Boroli family who decided to make their dream a reality. The estate is now run by the second generation, who owns no fewer than ten hectares of vineyards. The vines are spread across three prominent areas in this part of Piedmont: Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, and La Morra. Enormous efforts are made in the vineyards; nothing is left to chance. The vines are continuously monitored to guarantee the highest quality Nebbiolo. All production takes place in Boroli's new, ultra-modern winery, Cascina La Brunella, developed by the third son of the Boroli family.

Long-term wood aging for Boroli Barolo Villero

The strength of this Boroli Barolo Villero lies not only in the high-quality grapes but also in the perpetual oak aging. This creates a unique aroma and flavor that only Boroli wines can create. The oak aging lasts an impressive 24 months, an incredible amount of time. It takes a while, but you get a tremendous amount in return. In the glass, an abundance of ripe red fruit, plums, and cherries develop, combined with pleasant spices. The Barolo Villero has a rich and vibrant flavor with supple and elegant tannins. This Barolo wine is perfectly balanced. An extraordinary wine that transports you to sun-drenched Italy.
