Largest owner of Barolo vineyards

Located in the village of La Morra, the Beni di Batasiolo winery is the largest owner of Barolo vineyards. 'Beni' is a Piedmontese term for property, land, or vineyard. In addition to the sixty hectares of Barolo, the winery also owns another sixty hectares of vineyards elsewhere in Piedmont. Thanks to these many hectares, Batasiolo is able to produce a full range of high-quality Italian wines, ranging from classic reds to delicate whites. Like the Barolo Riserva, Batasiolo is the work of the Dogliani family. For five generations, they have embodied their passion for wine. The Dogliani family has undergone many changes and upheavals in this picturesque landscape, likely more than 50 or 100 years ago. But only in this way has the family business been able to flourish. In 1978, the Dogliani family acquired the historic Kiola winery. With its seven wineries in this important region, the best conditions are available for growing the famous Nebbiolo da Barolo grape.

The smell and taste of Batasiolo Barolo Riserva

The grapes are carefully harvested and selected. Finally, the Batasiolo Barolo Riserva is aged for at least 36 months in oak barrels, followed by a bottle of aging in the Batasiolo cellars. This aging is crucial because it allows the wine to fully unwind; this takes approximately 12 months, depending on the vintage. The wine is an intense garnet red in the glass. The aroma is overwhelming, full, and complex, with aromas of jam, dried fruit, spices, plums, cherry, chocolate, vanilla, and leather. This Barolo pairs well with cheese, pasta, and red meat.
