The wines of Domaine de Joy

The story of Domaine de Joy is just as idyllic as its wines. It begins simply with a man, Paul Gessner, who fell in love with the region: Armagnac. During a visit, he was captivated by the beautiful rolling landscape combined with the craftsmanship required to create Armagnac. He moved from Switzerland to France and decided to continue the Gessner dynasty. With great success, as the fourth generation now runs the winery. Originally founded with Armagnac, Vanessa and Kevin Gessner, the current owners, now focus primarily on wine. Nevertheless, they cherish their family history, and a small portion of the vineyards is still reserved for Armagnac production.

Impressions of Famille Gessler La Vie en Joy Wit

This white wine uses two grape varieties, representing extremes on the grape variety spectrum. The Gros Manseng is full-bodied, fruity, and almost sweet, while the Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and invigorating. Nevertheless, the winemaker manages to create a magnificent wine. With 80% Sauvignon Blanc in the Famille Gessler La Vie en Joy Wit, the character is primarily fresh and thirst-quenching. However, the addition of Gros Manseng provides a pleasant surprise: pineapple, apricots, and peaches vie for dominance in the wine. Despite everything, the finish is subtle and refined.
