Vintage Report
For the 2022 vintage in Languedoc, Robert Parker has not yet collected sufficient data (NT - Not Tested) for a formal score. The wines from this specific year still need to be definitively assessed for their quality and potential.
You've probably tasted this red wine in a top restaurant, as this Perle du Sud is a popular house wine. We don't find that surprising, as this red wine truly lives up to its name; it's a gem from the south. More precisely, in the Pays d'Oc appellation. There, the old vineyards for this red wine are filled with Merlot and Grenache grapes. These two grapes complement each other perfectly, with the Merlot providing softness and the Grenache adding depth and creaminess.
The harvest of the Merlot and Grenache grapes
The ancient vines on which the grapes grow thrive in a perfect climate. The many hours of sunshine allow the grapes to ripen evenly, and the fresh breeze from the mountaintops provides the necessary cooling. This mix of weather influences plays a significant role in the top quality of the harvest. But the soil structure is also crucial, explains the winemaker. The soil consists primarily of pebbles, clay, and gravel, which allows the vines to develop deep roots. These roots allow them to easily absorb moisture and provide the clusters with the necessary nutrients. The result is a world-class red wine, smooth and easy on the palate. This red Perle du Sud wine is wonderfully soft
Perle du Sud Merlot Grenache is an intense yet very smooth red wine. It has a ruby red color. The aroma reveals abundant red fruit, with hints of thyme, pepper, and vanilla. The palate is full and smooth, with lovely notes of berries, cherries, and plums interspersed with herbs like a touch of pepper and a touch of thyme. A wonderfully soft, smooth finish completes the experience.Product details
