Ogier's 3,200 hectares of vineyards
Since 1948, Ogier has been producing wines. This beautiful Roman-style winery is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The cellars date back to the 20th century and are undoubtedly the oldest in the southern Rhône Valley. In 2006, Ogier committed itself to sustainability and farms all its vineyards organically. To achieve this, Ogier acquired new plots and developed unique local viticulture. Today, Ogier has 3,200 hectares of vineyards in this renowned wine region. The estate possesses a wealth of specialized expertise, enabling it to produce exquisite wines. The vineyards are located in the heart of the Rhône Valley, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, north of Avignon. The soil consists of sandy and siliceous clay, providing an excellent base for the grape varieties. Like all Ogier wines, the wine is vinified traditionally. The blend consists of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre. The wine is aged for at least twelve months in French oak barrels. The Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes has a beautiful ruby red color. The aroma reveals notes of fresh moss, white pepper, cinnamon, thyme, and fruits like strawberries, plums, and black cherries. The oak aging perfects it and gives it a powerful, refined flavor! The barrels used are over 30 years old, giving this Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes a unique aroma. On the palate, we discovered notes of creamy chocolate, coffee, and smoke, along with plenty of black fruit and ripe tannins.
