Vintage Report
The 2023 vintage in Castilla y León is considered excellent with a score of 91. The wines from this year are still young and show a powerful, tannic structure that indicates good aging potential.
El Origen de Prieto Pariente is a coupé of red wine made with Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, produced as a Castilla y León table wine by Bodegas Prieto Pariente in Valladolid, Spain. Each grape variety lends its own distinctive character to this delicious red wine.
The unique vineyards for this El Origen Prieto
El Origen de Prieto Pariente comes from unique vineyards in the Valladolid heathlands and is made from a selection of very old vines. The Garnacha clusters come from plots in Pedrosa del Rey, the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a small vineyard in the Salgüeros Valley, in Mucientes, and the Tempranillo comes from vineyards planted in Valbuena del Duero and a selection of varietals from the two previous locations. The fruit from these three different locations was chosen to make Origen de Prieto Pariente because of the old vines, the orientation of the vineyards and the quality and diversity of the soils, which include clay, marl, sand, limestone, white clay, brown soil and silt sand. The grapes used to make El Origen de Prieto Pariente are spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and left in the same place for malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for seventeen months in new and used 225- and 500-liter barrels before bottling. Bodegas Prieto Pariente is a personal project of siblings Ignacio and Martina Prieto Pariente, the third generation of the family to run Bodega José Pariente, which surprisingly specializes in white wines. With this range of red wines, crafted from select, unique vineyards, the Prieto Pariente siblings strive to offer a true portrait of the terroir, expressed in fresh, fruity, and elegant wines. What does Jose Pariente El Origen Prieto taste like?
On the nose, this El Origen Prieto Pariente boasts powerful aromas of dark red and black fruit (cherries, berries, and blackberries) with subtle toasted oak notes. The palate is powerful with a fresh accent, beautifully ripe fruit, and a lovely balance with a firm structure and finish.Product details
