The wines of Cazes

Cazes Winery is a well-known name in the Southern French wine scene. Located in the heart of Roussillon, they have been at the forefront for over 125 years—a feat few other wineries can match. Founded in 1895 by Michel Cazes, Cazes Winery remains a family-run business to this day. It is located in Rivesaltes, known primarily for its dessert wines. Cazes, however, offers much more than just dessert wines. A diverse range of grape varieties is grown on no fewer than 220 hectares, resulting in a wide variety of wines. For Cazes Les Clos de Paulilles Collioure Blanc, Grenache Blanc was chosen, among other grapes; a grape that is quite well-known in the Roussillon region. Grenache Gris forms the other half. While lesser-known, it's a grape variety that has earned its place in the Cazes vineyards. The vineyards are uniquely situated. With the Mediterranean Sea to the east, the Pyrenees to the south, and the Corbières hills to the west, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris can flourish to their heart's content.

The smell and taste of Cazes Les Clos de Paulilles Collioure Blanc

After the grapes are hand-harvested, they are fermented in both steel and concrete vats. Following fermentation, the Cazes winemaker allows the rich juices of Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris to mature on their own lees for five to six months. This gives Cazes Les Clos de Paulilles Collioure Blanc depth and complexity. The rich flavors of minerals, white flowers, jasmine, grapefruit, and overripe pear also dance on your taste buds.
