Sustainable wine growing at Villa Wolf

Weingut Villa Wolf is a winery in the Palatinate region, founded in 1756. It was a highly prestigious winery in the 18th century and reached its peak of success in the 19th century. It fell into decline in the 1990s and was subsequently acquired by Ernst Loosen in 1996. Since then, he has restored its prestige through his philosophy and hard work. Ernst Loosen also owns the Dr. Loosen winery. The vineyards of Villa Wolf Gewürztraminer are cultivated sustainably, in accordance with German environmental regulations. The grapes are harvested by hand in the field to select the best bunches. Once in the winery, the juice ferments in stainless steel tanks and undergoes a light aging on its lees. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to maintain a certain acidity that gives it vibrancy. The wine is aged for six months and is then lightly filtered before bottling.
