Bolla's rich history is rooted in the timeless classics of Verona, which form the foundation of its winemaking tradition. A tribute to the dedication of its winemakers, its unique terroirs, and its exquisite wines. Bardolino was one of Bolla's first international triumphs, finding its way to the US after World War I and even being transported on the prestigious transatlantic liner Andrea Doria. This refined Bolla Bardolino Classico is composed of a harmonious blend of 60 percent Corvina, 30 percent Rondinelle, and a touch of 10 percent other select grapes.
Bolla: A Veronese Wine Icon
In 1883, Abele Bolla, the proud owner of the "Al Gambero" inn, laid the foundations for the Bolla winery in Soave, a picturesque medieval town near Verona. Over the years, the Bolla family has proudly exported their Veronese wines to numerous international markets. The heart of Bolla's wine production lies in Pedemonte, where the original buildings still serve as offices, reception, and tasting rooms. The historic wing, the Cantina del Nonno, is a living testament to tradition, now enriched with 1,700 barriques, 35 barrels, and a collection of Slavonian oak barrels dating back to 1883.
Bardolino Classico: A Masterpiece of Terroir
The vineyards that produce the grapes for this Bardolino Classico are picturesquely situated in the hills southeast of Lake Garda, in Italy's renowned Bardolino region. The rocky, morainic soil provides ideal conditions for this exquisite red wine. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled maceration, preserving their fruity freshness and distinctive aromas. After fermentation, the wine is refined through partial malolactic fermentation and then stored in stainless steel vats to preserve its fruity aromas and vibrancy. The Bolla Bardolino reveals rich notes of black cherry and berry in its aroma. Its palate is velvety smooth, infused with fruity notes of cherry, currant, and blackberry. The finish is elegant, subtle, and has a light freshness. For optimal enjoyment, this wine is recommended served slightly chilled, around 10 degrees Celsius.
