The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Gavi di Gavi wines are always a treat. A very well-known Italian wine made from the equally famous Cortese grape. The Gavi region stretches from the village of Novi Ligure to the lower hills of the Ligurian Apennines, near the sea of the same name. The climate here is perfect, and the unique terroir gives the wines their beautiful characteristics.

Around the town of Gavi in the Piedmont region, we find the cooperative Produttori del Gavi. With around 100 member winegrowers, they own many of the best vineyards in this region. Everything revolves around collaboration, quality, and upholding the Gavi name. Gavi di Gavi wines are made from the indigenous Cortese grape. The grape's unique aromas are due to the area's unique soil type. The soil consists of clay with intensely white chalky soil. This creates special characteristics characteristic of this region. Furthermore, the vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 to 300 meters. This, combined with the fresh breeze from the nearby Ligurian Sea, ensures a stable temperature. The Cortese grapes are harvested by hand when fully ripe. Almost immediately, they are transported to the winery where they are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation follows, lasting approximately 20 days at a controlled temperature. This fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged on the lees for another three months, giving it a softer character and some structure.

A straw-yellow color in the glass with occasional green glints. That's how this Gavi Gavi del Comune di Gavi appears in the glass. The aromas are released immediately upon pouring. Peach, banana, and pear dominate in a very pleasant way. A delicate aroma that already hints at the flavor. Fresh, structured, and soft on the palate. Beautifully balanced, the sweet notes are balanced by refreshing acidity.
