Chardonnay at its finest. And it's in good hands with Eve & Michel Rey. The couple owns their beautiful wine estate with 4.5 hectares of vineyards in the small town of Vergisson. They own vineyards in Pouilly-Fuisse and a small portion in St. Veran. Because Eve and Michel believe in the individual importance of each vineyard's terroir, they craft a unique wine from each one. While it takes some extra work, it's also rewarding. The soil is hard and primarily limestone. This gives the grapes their own character, making the wines unique.

Perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes

The La Marechaude vineyard is located near Les Crays on the steep southern slopes of the Roche de Vergisson. Thanks to its location, it is sheltered from the cool wind and can ripen perfectly. The old vines are planted on limestone soil, allowing the grapes to develop a pleasant freshness. Once the Chardonnay grapes reach their perfect ripeness, they are carefully and entirely harvested by hand. Because the hectares are limited, the manual harvest remains manageable for the two. During harvest, the grapes are already rigorously selected. Because only the best is good enough. The grapes are pressed almost immediately in the winery to preserve their freshness. Fermentation then takes place, and the final wine is aged in oak barrels for approximately 11 months. And the wait is more than worth it.

An elegant Chardonnay from Pouilly Fuisse La Merechaude

The Pouilly Fuisse La Marechaude is a subtle and elegant white wine. We note aromas of ripe white fruit and peach complemented by notes of vanilla and coffee. This makes this Chardonnay seductive with just the right amount of complexity. The palate is rich with ripe acidity and a long, mineral finish.
