The 2023 harvest was phenomenal, with a low yield of very ripe and powerful bunches, partly thanks to the unique climate with large temperature differences between day and night.
In our opinion, this is one of Tasca's finest white wines, this d'Almerita, made from unique grapes: Catarratto, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, and Traminer Aromatico. All the grapes are grown on the beautiful island of Sicily, where the Tasca family has very old vineyards. The thick trunks have been in the ground for decades and absorb a great deal of nutrients from the rich soil. The vineyards are situated at a very high altitude of 900 meters, so you'll find a great deal of diversity in this white wine. The climate is unique, with plenty of warmth from the sun and coolness from the night and wind. The difference between night and day can reach up to 20 degrees Celsius, which is unique for this harvest.

Because this wine is made from Tasca's oldest vines, the harvest is truly phenomenal. The old vines yield little, but they do produce very ripe and powerful bunches. This is all due to the climate and deeply dug roots, which inherit the beautiful qualities of the soil structure. The soil contains abundant granite, limestone, and pebbles, which contribute to this fantastic white wine. The harvest is entirely by hand, in the early morning, while the grapes are still dormant. This is how Tasca's winemaker preserves the fresh and full-bodied style of this Leone d'Almerita. After arriving at the press, the grapes are pressed gently and gently, and the golden juice is very promising. As the winemaker says, good juice of this quality doesn't need oak aging. Quite powerful, and that bodes well for the taste! This one is so full-bodied and powerful, yet also very mild and smooth.
