Borgo Selene Winery is located in Sicily and was founded by Vito Curatolo Arini. A man who made a significant contribution to viticulture, he founded a winery shortly after the French Bourbon dynasty in 1860. He already owned several vineyards and had previously sold his grapes to cooperatives. His dream began in his hometown of Marsala: to produce premium wines that would be recognized worldwide. He succeeded, and later the family purchased a vineyard and winery on the beautiful island of Sicily. This is where Borgo Selene Wine was born and is located in the picturesque surroundings of Trapani.

The harvest of the Catarratto and Inzolia grapes

The vineyards are nestled in the hilly landscape of Trapani. There, the two white grape varieties for this white Borgo Selene wine grow: Catarratto and Inzolia, which are well-known on the island of Sicily. The soil in which the vines grow is rich in limestone and gravel, giving the plants deep roots. This allows them to absorb a great deal of moisture during the warm growing season. This is essential, as temperatures can soar. However, the vineyards' elevated position also allows the grapes to receive plenty of wind to cool them down. When the harvest is ripe, both grapes are harvested separately, after which the winemaker blends them. And the white Borgo Selene is born.

The aroma and taste of the white Borgo Selene

In the glass, this beautiful wine is a lemon yellow with a green shimmer. It exudes aromas of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and very ripe oranges. The palate is very lively with a delicate mouthfeel, a fresh citrus note quickly followed by nuances of tropical fruit. On the palate, it also offers a touch of green spice and a subtle bitterness, making it an exciting wine for every day. This white Borgo Selene never gets old.
