The 2021 vintage in Veneto received an excellent rating of 94 points. The wines from this year are currently still youthful and tannic, indicating a slow but excellent aging potential.

For this wine, we were given the opportunity to explore Veneto's beautiful nature. While Veneto is a paradise for wine lovers, with thousands of hectares of vineyards, it also boasts a wide range of nature reserves. Often, the vineyards seamlessly blend with the surrounding nature reserves, as is the case with Notte di Galileo. The vineyards for Notte di Galileo Rosso Riserva are located in the Euganean Hills, on the edge of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.

The Italian wine of Notte di Galileo

A walk through the vineyards is breathtaking and peaceful. Here, you literally escape the hustle and bustle of the bustling city of Padua, which is just a twenty-kilometer drive away. This Notte di Galileo is the result of a project by Cantina Colli Euganei. This project began in 1998 with the goal of creating the most ideal conditions for each grape variety. By carefully examining where each grape thrives, you create a super grape that produces unparalleled wines. It took some time, but it was successful. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, both part of Notte di Galileo, are planted in vineyards at an altitude of up to 200 meters and facing southwest. Combined with the volcanic soil, the grape develops a unique aroma, which is beautifully expressed when drinking Notte di Galileo Rosso Riserva.

Finally, the precious juice is aged in oak for 15 to 18 months. This gives Notte di Galileo Rosso Riserva a ripe and full character. Think ripe red fruit combined with exuberant spices. A sultry note of vanilla can be detected on the back of the tongue. This, combined with the everlasting finish, has ensured that Notte di Galileo Rosso Riserva has captured our hearts. Since the very first sip of this Italian wine, it has been a regular guest when we serve delicious red meat.
