2022 was an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, rated 97 points by Robert Parker. The conditions were ideal, resulting in wines with excellent balance and aging potential.

A stunning wine from the almost iconic Mouton Cadet winery. Mouton Cadet's history is impressive and of great significance to the entire wine world. It began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel successfully sold his Pauillac wines to his hotel guests. He thereby founded the Mouton Rothschild winery. This enormous winery continues to produce legendary wines every year to this day. Baron Nathaniel's grandson, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, took over the winery in the 1920s. He founded Mouton Cadet wines to make Bordeaux wines available to a wider audience.

The vineyards of Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint Emilion

This wine comes from Bordeaux, specifically from the Saint-Émilion region. This part of Bordeaux lies further east and enjoys a reputation at least as high as that of the Medoc. Under the supervision of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the winery in Saint-Émilion has planted several vineyards. Three grape varieties were used for this Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint-Émilion. First, Merlot, which provides an intense red-fruit sensation. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc also play a significant role in this red wine, providing structure, refinement, and elegance.

Before the bottles of Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint Emilion leave the impressive Mouton Cadet cellars, they first undergo a subtle oak aging process. This lasts approximately 12 to 15 months. Only after the winemaker's explicit permission are the bottles of Mouton Cadet Reserve Saint Emilion allowed to leave the cellars. The result is dazzling. On the nose, you discover spices like pepper and cinnamon, as well as fruity notes of strawberry, blueberry, and blackcurrant. This refined aroma easily transitions into a flavorful wine. Supple tannins pleasantly alternate with fruity nuances. The finish is complex, with notes of vanilla and mocha.
