The 2020 vintage in Languedoc is rated as excellent with a score of 92 points according to Robert Parker. The wines from this vintage are powerful, still relatively youthful, and have a good tannic structure.

This Chevancy red wine is the ultimate embodiment of a great Languedoc-Roussillon wine. A perfect wine we can't get enough of. With two international all-rounders taking center stage, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it's inevitable that a sip of this Chevancy Reserve will bring a smile to your face. We came across this delicious wine on one of our wine tours. During this trip, we were exploring Languedoc-Roussillon, a vast wine region in the south of France, roughly situated between Montpellier and the Pyrenees. Wine has been produced in this region for centuries, but the quality was often subpar. Fortunately, there has been significant investment in the vineyards in recent years, and Languedoc-Roussillon wines are now among the finest French wines.

The red wine of Chevancy

Chevancy Reserve Merlot Cabernet is produced by a wine cooperative. Within this cooperative, several local winegrowers decided to join forces; by working together, they not only achieve economies of scale, but also improve quality. This immediately explains the sky-high quality of this Chevancy Reserve Merlot Cabernet. For this wine, they also used the two most famous red grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These varieties may seem like polar opposites, but nothing could be further from the truth. When blended together, they create a stunning bouquet that will be talked about for years to come.

Impressions of Chevancy Merlot Cabernet

After the grapes are harvested, which takes place under strict supervision, they are pressed and fermented. By blending them in precisely the right proportions, you get a beautiful red wine. This wine is brimming with generous notes of vanilla, cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant. Despite its incredibly fruity character, Chevancy Merlot Cabernet is wonderfully warm and sultry in aroma and flavor.
