Vintage Report

2020 was a very good to excellent vintage for Bordeaux, characterized by a fine balance between ripeness and freshness. The wines are approachable in their youth but also possess excellent aging potential.

This beautiful winery, nestled in the heart of the Saint-Estephe wine region, is one of the most renowned wineries in the world. It's located near major estates such as Château Cos d'Estournel and Château Lafite Rothschild. The owner of this beautiful winery is no stranger to the area, as he is none other than Jacky Lorenzetti, who also owns Château Pédesclaux. Upon becoming the owner of this fine winery, he gradually improved the quality of both estates. The vineyards are still highly regarded and receive significant attention today. Château Lilian Ladouys boasts an impressive 48 hectares of vineyards, spread like a puzzle across 90 different plots. This allows the winemaker at Château Lilian Ladouys to produce a powerful and versatile red wine that is renowned worldwide.

The old Saint Estephe vineyard of Chateau Lilian Ladouys

Four grape varieties are grown for this red wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, which predominates in this red wine. Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc are also grown in the old vineyards. The vineyards average 45 years old, which partly determines the quality of this red wine. This is why it has been classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, a distinction reserved only for the very best red wines from Bordeaux. When the harvest is ripe, each bunch is harvested separately, entirely by hand. Each bunch is inspected and transported in small wooden crates from the vineyard to Château Lilian Ladouys. Upon arrival, the bunches are pressed, and this premium red wine is aged for a full fourteen months in partially new barrels. The new barrels give this red wine more power and suppleness, and you can certainly taste it. It's a joy to drink.

Full and very powerful, this red wine from Chateau Lilian Ladouys

Make it a celebration, because with this wine in your glass, it's a pure indulgence. Upon pouring, we see a dark red color with a light purple rim. All our senses are stimulated, and the aroma reveals hints of black cherries, blackberries, chocolate, coffee, and a light spice. On the palate, this Château Lilian Ladouys 2016 is a gem! Very elegant and smooth. With beautiful flavors of ripe red fruit, cedarwood, a hint of pepper, tobacco, and a delicate chocolate note. Finished with elegant tannins and a hint of vanilla. What a gem this is from Saint-Estèphe!
