A unique Cabernet with great depth

Rutherford Ranch Winery is located on the site of the original Round Hill Winery, founded in 1978 by Ernie Van Asperen, Virginia Van Asperen, and Charlie Abela. When they retired in 2000, Marke and Theo Zaninovich, longtime shareholders in the Van Asperen family, purchased the winery. Since then, the winery and tasting room have undergone a major renovation. Despite this, the 100-year-old olive grove and the estate's unpretentious charm remain essentially unchanged. This red wine is composed of 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 percent Petit Verdot, 2 percent Malbec, and 1 percent Petit Sirah. The harvest for this Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon was characterized by low yields and high quality. We can safely say that it is a unique wine with considerable depth. Part of this Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Heide Ranch vineyard, one of the newest additions to Rutherford's impressive vineyard portfolio. This region, located in the eastern part of the Napa Valley appellation, produces exceptionally ripe fruit, giving the Cabernet Sauvignon a bold and rich flavor. The wine is aged for a total of 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

What does Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?

On the nose, this Cabernet Sauvignon offers notes of ripe berries, fresh cherries, dark plum, and a hint of sage. The palate is full-bodied with soft tannins, a velvety smooth mouthfeel, and a long, lingering finish. What a wine, superb! This wine pairs wonderfully with hearty dishes like grilled meats and chops.
