As far as we're concerned, this Casa Silva Viognier Lolol from the Gran Terroir series is a surefire success. Viognier, a grape variety that's not easy to grow, but winemaker Mario Geisse certainly knows how to make a top-notch wine from its golden juice. It's truly a unique piece of craftsmanship, made with grapes from the Lolol vineyard in Colchagua.

The Lolol vineyards for this Viognier

The old vineyard benefits from all the beautiful characteristics of the climate, which is primarily determined by the Andes Mountains. This white wine is therefore called Gran Terroir Los Andes. The climate is warm with plenty of wind, influenced by the mountains. A truly ideal climate for the Viognier grape, and yes, that's something to be truly delighted with. The Casa Silva winery is unique. This is especially true because, after all these years, it remains a true family business, with the family in full control. Founded in 1892, Mario Pablo Silva is now the fifth generation at the helm. In recent years, Casa Silva has focused primarily on its terroir. The winery's origins lie just off the road south from Santiago, near the town of San Fernando. It's a beautiful bodega known for its quality wines. And thanks to the excellent weather and soil structure, they can produce them time and time again.

The aromas and flavors of Casa Silva Viognier Lolol Gran Terroir

After a long and gentle ripening process on the old vines, the harvest is gathered entirely by hand and transported to the press in small crates. This all takes place early in the morning to avoid damaging the grapes. After pressing, 25 percent of the wine is aged for six months in French barrels in the Casa Silva cellars. This is an important period for giving this white wine a touch more power and suppleness. The aroma is distinctly distinct, with nuances of ripe yellow fruit like apricots, nectarines, and apple. The palate is very elegant, with lovely hints of peach, vanilla, oak, yellow cream, and a hint of grapefruit. The finish is long and offers a touch of spice and a hint of honey. A complex yet full-bodied white wine made from the Viognier grape.
