Oropasso Biscardo Veronese IGT Veneto, Italy
Oropasso Biscardo is the white pillar within the Trilogia of the Biscardo family, a project that began with Neropasso and was expanded with this fresh Bianco IGT Veneto. What does IGT Veneto mean? IGT stands for Indicazione Geografica Tipica and gives producers in Veneto more freedom in grape selection and vinification, while the origin remains officially protected. Oropasso combines Garganega and Chardonnay into a blend that brings together structure and freshness and has since received international awards.
With 13% alcohol and originating from the eastern hills of Verona, this wine demonstrates how traditional and modern Veneto can reinforce each other.
About Biscardo Vini
Biscardo is a family business from Verona with roots dating back to 1878. The family combines local grape varieties with international varieties and works from a clear vision of accessible, distinctive wines.
- Family tradition since 1878: multiple generations active in Verona.
- Project-based approach: Oropasso is part of the Trilogia, started with Neropasso.
- Focus on Veneto: strong regional identity combined with international appeal.
Biscardo's style is characterized by balance, drinkability, and clear fruit expression.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from the Colli Veronesi orientali, in the eastern part of the province of Verona.
- Colli Veronesi orientali: hilly area providing ventilation and ripening balance.
- IGT Veneto: allows for the combination of Garganega and Chardonnay.
- Alcohol 13%: provides sufficient body without becoming heavy.
The location in the hills contributes to aromatic freshness and mineral tension.
Vinification and aging
Vinification is aimed at preserving fruit and balance.
- Blend of Garganega and Chardonnay: combination of local and international grape.
- Temperature-controlled fermentation: to preserve aromas of citrus and yellow fruit.
- Style focused on freshness and minerality: without dominant oak influence.
This approach results in a wine that is both accessible and structured.
Grape composition
Garganega – Colli Veronesi orientali
The traditional white grape of Veneto, known for its floral notes and fresh acidity.
Chardonnay – Veneto
Adds body, roundness, and ripe yellow fruit to the blend.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
In the glass, Oropasso shows an intense straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is delicate and opens with floral notes, followed by citrus and yellow fruits such as apricot, peach, and nectarine. On the palate, the wine is fresh and mineral, with a clear structure and balanced build. The texture is smooth without being heavy, supported by lively acidity. The finish is harmonious and clear.
- Serving temperature: Serve at around 9–10 °C so that the fresh citrus aromas and mineral tension are optimally expressed.
- Dishes: Pairs excellently with white fish, shellfish, grilled white meat dishes with spiced vegetables, or a risotto with citrus and shrimp tartare.
