Inspired by sultry summer evenings. After a hot day, in the midst of a perpetual heatwave, a breeze picks up in the backyard. The sun slowly sets, but the light stays long. The indigo in the sky gradually transforms into a deep, dark cobalt blue, but it doesn't get dark. The sultry air beckons you with a delicious, refreshing glass of wine. These summer evenings call for a glass of Blue Night, produced by the talented winery Peter Mertes.

The wines of Peter Mertes

This winery is located in a highly sought-after German region among countless Dutch: the Mosel. A wine region that became famous with wines like Liebfraumilch, but is also capable of creating truly excellent wines. Winemaker Peter Mertes is a descendant of a family that has cultivated grapes on the banks of the Mosel for over 600 years. He was the first to decide, in 1924, to professionalize the winery. Almost a century later, Peter Mertes has become a household name. It's remarkable that the same vision of a century ago—fine wines at an attractive price—still holds true. The innovative character is also striking, which is once again confirmed with this Blue Night.

Impressions of Blue Night Wine

This Blue Night uses three grape varieties, each characteristic of the region where they are grown. Muller Thurgau, Riesling, and Silvaner are a cheerful trio that thrive on the banks of the Mosel. Not too heavy, delightfully fresh, and accessible: a true crowd-pleaser. Blue Night's bouquet borders on sweet. Ripe peaches, soft apricots, and a hint of ripe pears. Despite this, Blue Night remains refreshing. A hint of honey emerges on the finish. This makes Blue Night a good aperitif, but it also pairs well with rich Asian dishes.
