Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut 2023, Limburg, Netherlands
The Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut 2023 is everything you'd hope for from a sparkling wine, but with a unique Dutch signature. This wine comes from the Sint-Pietersberg in Maastricht, a place where history and viticulture meet. Here, in one of the most special wine locations in the Netherlands, a sparkling wine is created that shows surprising finesse and depth.
What immediately sets this wine apart is the combination of classic grape varieties and a long maturation, making it not only fresh, but also truly layered and serious.
Origin: Sint-Pietersberg, Maastricht
The vineyards are located on the historic Sint-Pietersberg, a unique location within the Netherlands.
- South Limburg: one of the best wine regions in the Netherlands.
- Historic hill: known for ancient caves and unique history.
- Suitable terroir for sparkling wine: provides fresh acidity and refinement.
The location and soil give this wine its elegant style and striking tension.
Grape and vinification
Chardonnay – Sint-Pietersberg
Provides finesse, structure and elegance.
Pinot Noir – Sint-Pietersberg
Gives body and subtle red fruit.
The wine is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir and matures for no less than 24 months sur latte. This long maturation on the lees ensures extra complexity, a fine mousse and those typical brioche notes that you normally find in high-quality sparkling wines.
Character and style
In the glass, this Brut immediately shows what it has to offer. Fine, elegant bubbles rise, bringing forth aromas of brioche, roasted almonds and red fruit, complemented by a fresh citrus lift. On the palate, it is lively and crisp, yet at the same time round and refined due to its maturation. The mousse is soft and refined, while the finish lingers long and elegantly.
This is one of those wines that you keep pouring, because it reveals something new every time.
