From vineyard to bottle

The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

This smallest and youngest wine, called Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc by Henri Bourgeois, is sometimes called the young baby Sancerre. The young vines that will later be used to make the Sancerre are in this bottle. And it's clear that they're very careful with their young vines.

The Petit Bourgeois comes from the slopes of the Loire Valley and is made by Henri Bourgeois, a Sauvignon Blanc expert and winemaker in regions including the Loire, Marlborough, and Sancerre. For ten generations, the winery has been passionate about Sauvignon Blanc in the heart of Sancerre. Today, the family owns 65 hectares of vineyards in the finest subregions of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. They also operate in the Loire and Marlborough regions, where they know how to bring out the best in the grapes and soil. The grapes for this Petit Bourgeois are carefully selected and then vinified in temperature-controlled steel tanks. This is followed by three months of sur lie aging, during which the wine matures on the lees that settle at the bottom of the fermentation tanks. During this aging period, the lees are regularly stirred into the wine using batonnage. This aging method creates a very distinctive, distinct flavor and high concentration in the wine.

What a fantastic glass of wine this is, with beautiful citrus fruit and light minerals. Isn't it too good for the price, we at perfectewijn.nl wonder? But hey, take advantage of it! On the nose, this Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc has citrus fruit, gooseberry, mown grass, and light minerals. The palate is beautiful, superb, and very refined! Great length and plenty of white fruit! Perfect as an aperitif, but also with a seafood platter and white meat. The ideal temperature for serving this wine is 10 degrees Celsius.
