The king of dessert wines: this magnificent Ben Rye Passito di Pantelleria! Made from Zibibbo grapes, grown on vines, making it unique, using the traditional "alberello pantesco" bush training system, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The old vineyard of Passito di Pantelleria
The wine is made from the Zibibbo grape variety. The vineyards are located on the island of Pantelleria at an altitude of between twenty and four hundred meters. The soil is primarily volcanic sand and lava with a high mineral content. The vines were planted around 1920. The grapes are harvested by hand around mid-August. After careful selection, the grapes are gently pressed. They then undergo fermentation in steel vats. Sun-dried grapes are continuously added to the fermenting must. The must matures for seven months in steel vats before being bottled. The wine then remains in the cellars for at least another twelve months to further develop. This wine from Donnafugata has also been given a special label. The wind constantly sweeps around the grape clusters on Pantelleria. The island's winds bring a wealth of aromas so powerful you can almost touch them. The wine label tells the story of the love, care, and effort of heroic winemaking on a unique and fascinating island. A fresh and enchanting portrait that reveals its essence.Full and very powerful this Donnafugata Ben Rye
This Ben Ryé has a brilliant orange color. The nose offers a complex bouquet, with notes of fresh apricot and orange peel combined with scents of Mediterranean herbs (thyme and rosemary). The palate surprises with its great freshness and intensity, with a pleasant sweetness balanced by a rich minerality and lively, soft acidity. It finishes with a lingering fullness, with a satisfying return of the fruity note. A complex and captivating Passito di Pantelleria, one of the most highly regarded Italian sweet wines in the world. Donnafugata's Ben Ryé Passito di Pantelleria DOC was awarded Platinum - Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2018.Product details
