Vintage Report

The 2020 vintage in the Languedoc is considered excellent with a score of 92 points. The wines from this year show a beautiful structure and are still in their youthful stage.
Château Maris La Touge is a medium-bodied red wine made from Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan grapes grown in the Minervois cru of La Livinière. The grapes complement each other uniquely. It's a fruity wine with beautiful acidity and a balanced, long finish.

The organic vineyards of Chateau maris

Château Maris is a 79-hectare estate spread across numerous vineyards on the hillside above La Livinière, the first Cru Village of the Minervois region in the Languedoc. Château Maris practices both organic and biodynamic viticulture and has built the world's only hemp brick wine cellar, an environmentally friendly building that is completely biodegradable, self-sufficient, and carbon negative. Château Maris is also the first European winery to achieve Certified B Corporation® status, joining a global movement of people using business as a force for good. At the helm is Robert Eden, who came to France over 20 years ago to pursue his dream of making wines that reflect, rather than mask, the land on which the grapes are grown. Robert's approach to winemaking is based on the fundamental premise that wine is "grown," not "made."

Hand-harvested for Chateau Maris La Touge

The grapes for this red wine come from the La Touge plot, where the soil consists of clay, limestone, and sandstone. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and taken directly to the winery. There, fermentation and maceration follow for four weeks at a controlled temperature. After this, the wine is aged for another 16 months in partially egg-shaped concrete vats. La Touge has a beautiful, deep, dark red color. The aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry develop into a robust flavor with beautiful acidity. Ripe and juicy tannins on the palate. A complex wine with a balanced, long finish.
