With the superb Chardonnay taking center stage, we have no doubt this Varvaglione Primadonna will be a resounding success. The vineyards are located in Puglia, a region affectionately known as "the heel of the boot." Puglian wines have seen tremendous growth over the past twenty years. While wines from Tuscany and Piedmont once dominated, wine drinkers are now flocking to Puglian wines. This is partly due to their excellent price-quality ratio.
Our oenologists have been captivated by the superb wines of Varvaglione for years. Expectations for Chardonnay di Puglia are therefore sky-high. Well, our expectations were more than met the moment this bottle of Varvaglione was popped. The juice is aged on lees for a few months during the production process, giving the white wine a fuller character. This results in a creamy and balanced flavor. Plenty of tropical fruit is evident, with pineapple playing a prominent role. Delicious paired with seafood.
