District 7 Chardonnay is a focused, elegant wine that strikes the perfect balance between richness and freshness. Monterey County has a cool climate, and great Chardonnay wines have been produced there for generations. The fresh breeze from the Pacific Ocean ensures that, despite the constant sunshine, the vineyards remain cool. And that's precisely what Chardonnay prefers: a cool environment where this grape is given the time to ripen.
A powerful Chardonnay with texture and structure
The District 7 wines are part of the Scheid Family Wines. The Scheid family has been based in Monterey since 1972 and knows exactly how to utilize the ideal climatic conditions. Four other distinctive labels are released under this name. In total, the family owns over 1,600 hectares in the Salinas Valley. This Grown Chardonnay comes from certified sustainable estate vineyards in the cooler wine-growing regions of Monterey County, where strong winds and misty conditions produce wines with great character, texture, and structure. Planted on well-drained cliffs, banks, and slopes, the vineyards offer ideal conditions for Chardonnay and other cool-climate varietals.10 months of aging for District 7 Estate Grown Chardonnay
The grapes were harvested in the early morning. At the winery, the fruit is sorted in small batches, crushed, and cold fermented. The wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks (70 percent) and new French oak barrels (30 percent) to accentuate the freshness, varietal character, and terroir. The aromas are fresh and extroverted with notes of yellow apple, pear, and citrus, enhanced by hints of coconut, vanilla, and toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, soft, and balanced with bright fruit, hints of butter, and a lingering, subtle oak finish. The combination of fruit and structure makes this Chardonnay a perfect accompaniment to a wide range of dishes, from soft cheeses to roasted chicken or seafood.Product details
