Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage in Chile has been awarded an outstanding score of 93 points by Robert Parker. The wines from this year are characterized by high quality, although they are still relatively youthful and developing.
The Medella Real series was created in 1983 to honor the ancestor of the Vina Santa Rita family. Year after year, this winery wins numerous awards for its quality wines. And this series is certainly no less impressive. A fruity, exceptionally balanced white wine.

The Santa Rita Vineyard

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown on the Santa Rita Leyda vineyard. The region boasts a cold climate strongly influenced by the nearby Pacific Ocean. This tempers the warm weather and allows the grapes to ripen slowly. Sauvignon Blanc grapes, in particular, thrive in this climate. The soil structure consists primarily of granite with a touch of clay. The Sauvignon Blanc thrives on the rolling hills, resulting in fruity wines with beautiful concentration. Depending on the Sauvignon Blanc's maturity, it is harvested around March. It is then taken almost immediately to the winery for further processing. Cold maceration takes place during the harvesting process. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are pressed, and the resulting juice is decanted for 48 hours. This ultimately ensures the right level of complexity. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, after which it is time for aging. The wine is aged for between 10 and 15 months in French oak barrels on its own lees. This gives the Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc vibrancy and a pleasant mouthfeel.

Enjoy a balanced fruity Sauvignon Blanc

The Sauvignon Blanc emerges with a greenish-yellow color. The aroma is intense, with notes of grapefruit, lime, and citrus, complemented by gooseberry. The palate is elegant, with lively acidity. Beautifully balanced with a fruity flavor that spreads across the palate, ultimately lingering in a fruity finish.
