Saint Dominique Le Viognier de la Chapelle 2023 Vin de Pays de l’Hérault, France
Saint Dominique Le Viognier de la Chapelle 2023 is a white South French wine made from Viognier grapes from the Hérault region. The wine is part of the Chapelle range, which presents recognizable and accessible grape varieties from Aniane, near Montpellier. Behind La Chapelle are Danielle Vialard and Eric Hosteins, with a clear link to Château Cissac in the Médoc. This gives this Viognier a beautiful combination of South French ripeness, aromatic expression, and classic winemaking experience.
Vineyards and Region
Le Viognier de la Chapelle comes from Aniane, a village in the Hérault with a strong wine identity.
• Location / Origin: Aniane is located near Montpellier, in the south of France. The region is warm and Mediterranean, allowing Viognier to develop its ripe, aromatic character here.
• Village with character: Aniane gained extra notoriety when the municipal council, led by Manuel Diaz, prevented the American company Mondavi from cultivating over 100 hectares of forest into vineyards. This story clearly shows how strongly the village is connected to local viticulture.
• Domain: La Chapelle is one of the oldest wine estates in Aniane. Due to a lack of succession, the estate came into the hands of Danielle Vialard, who brought her experience from the Médoc to this South French appellation.
Grape Composition
This white wine is made entirely from Viognier.
• 100% Viognier – Hérault: Viognier gives this wine its aromatic scent, soft structure, and ripe fruit expression. In the Hérault, the grape develops a full, round style with notes of white fruit, citrus, and florality.
Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions
Le Viognier de la Chapelle 2023 has an aromatic scent with citrus, white peach, and floral notes. The taste is round and fruity, with sufficient freshness to keep the wine lively. The finish remains soft, smooth, and pleasantly spicy.
• Serving temperature: Serve this Viognier at 8–10 °C, so that the aromatic fruit and fresh tension remain beautifully balanced.
• Dishes: Delicious with poultry, pork, salmon, tuna, spicy dishes, creamy chicken dishes, and soft cheeses.
More information about La Chapelle
La Chapelle is one of the oldest wine estates in Aniane and, due to a lack of succession, came into the hands of Danielle Vialard. She previously proved her quality as an oenologist in the Médoc at Château Cissac and, together with Eric Hosteins, stands behind wines in which French grapes receive a South French interpretation. Le Viognier de la Chapelle shows the white, aromatic side of this range: round, fruity, and accessible, with the ripe softness that Viognier can achieve in the Hérault.
