Versatile winery L'Avenir

This winery was founded sometime in the late 17th century. In the centuries that followed, L'Avenir was a fine producer. Not a high-flyer, but simply good. This changed in the early 1990s, when it was purchased by Frenchman Marc Wiehe. He gave the winery the development it needed, focusing primarily on the production of Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. After these successful years, the winemaker was ready for a new challenge. This became L'Avenir Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc: a completely different style than we're used to from this South African winery. However, we like this wine just as much as all other L'Avenir wines.

The vineyards where the Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow are located close to the South African coast. This means it benefits, especially at night, from a cool sea breeze that blows through the L'Avenir vineyards. This ultimately results in a refreshing and invigorating wine. We can confidently say that L'Avenir Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc is the number one thirst quencher. It begins with the aroma. A lively character immediately greets your nose. Intense notes of tropical fruits like guava, pineapple, and melon, as well as white pear and a hint of freshly mown grass. Take a sip and be overwhelmed.
