The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are primarily sourced from Stellenbosch, but also from the Darling, Durbanville, Walker Bay, and Lutzville wine regions. This is where the Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this Kleine Zalze from the Cellar Selection series are grown. The vineyards are all within 15 kilometers of the sea, and the cooling sea breeze and warm sun ensure ripe, full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

The successful wines of Kleine Zalze

Kleine Zalze was founded in 1683 by the German Nicholas Cleef, where he began by planting 7,000 vines. The estate later came into the possession of well-known South African families such as Colyn, Krige, Du Toit, and De Waal. In 1996, it came into the hands of Kobus Basson and Rolf Schulz, and it was time to ascend to the elite of South African winemaking. And with success. The wines regularly receive awards for their high quality. They are known for their unique character, and thanks to the wide selection, there's a perfect wine for every wine lover. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested early in the morning to ensure they arrive at the cellar in optimal condition. Afterward, the grapes have 12 to 36 hours of prolonged contact with the skins. The juice is then fermented at low temperatures with selected yeast strains. The wine then remains in contact with the lees for another four months before being blended and bottled.

What does the Kleine Zalze Sauvignon Blanc Cellar Selection taste like?

This Sauvignon Blanc Cellar Selection emanates a yellow-green hue in the glass. It smells delightfully of ripe figs, gooseberries, pineapple, and lychee. There are also delicate grassy notes and a lovely spice. On the palate, the Kleine Zalze Cellar Sauvignon Blanc is pleasantly fresh, with a crisp acidity and an impressively fruity finish. This dry white wine from the coastal region pairs perfectly with fish and poultry dishes, Asian cuisine, and vegetables. A fresh salad also pairs beautifully with the Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc.
