Vintage Report

The 2023 vintage was generally favorable for the Cape region in South Africa, especially for white wines. The conditions led to healthy grapes with good acidity and concentrated flavors, resulting in high-quality wines.

This wine is named after Lois Albert Peringuey, the 19th-century Inspector General of Vineyards in the Cape. It's a tribute to him, as it was under his leadership that the battle against phylloxera was launched. Chenin Blanc grapes are planted on the cool, south-facing slopes.

Best winery in Stellenbosch

Jordan Winery is considered one of the finest wineries in Stellenbosch. They have a long history dating back 300 years. The Jordan family took over the winery in 1982 and, after purchasing it, harvested all the grapes and planted new grape varieties. They carefully considered the soil structure and location best suited for each grape variety. They are the only winery in the region to have planted vineyards facing every direction. At an altitude of between 160 and 410 meters above sea level, the vineyards benefit from the influences of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Furthermore, the vineyards have diverse soil structures. This gives Jordan the most ideal conditions, resulting in uniquely ripe grapes. The Chenin Blanc grapes are carefully harvested when fully ripe. At the winery, the grapes are immediately softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in Burgundian barrels and the grapes are aged on lees in the barrel for seven months. To enhance the fresh citrus flavor, 30 percent of the juice is fermented in steel tanks. The wine is then blended and bottled.

The Inspector Perinquey Chenin Blanc emerges with a pale yellow color. The nose reveals aromas of peach, pear, and light oak. The palate is soft with hints of vanilla. The Chenin Blanc is beautifully balanced with wonderful acidity and a mineral finish. Thanks to the oak fermentation, the Chenin Blanc has fresh lemon notes. This wine pairs perfectly with curries or grilled chicken.
