Domaine de Fabrègues Picpoul de Pinet 2024 Languedoc, France
Domaine de Fabrègues Picpoul de Pinet 2024 is a crisp white wine from the Languedoc, made within the AOP Picpoul de Pinet. This style perfectly complements the Mediterranean coast around the Bassin de Thau, where white wines with citrus, green fruit, and mineral freshness pair wonderfully with fish and shellfish. Domaine de Fabrègues gives this wine an accessible, vibrant style, with the recognizable tension for which Picpoul de Pinet is so beloved.
Vineyards and region
Picpoul de Pinet comes from a defined coastal area in the Hérault, close to the Mediterranean Sea.
• Location / Origin: The AOP Picpoul de Pinet is located in the Languedoc, around the communes of Castelnau-de-Guers, Florensac, Mèze, Montagnac, Pinet, and Pomérols. This area is close to the Bassin de Thau, the large coastal lagoon between Frontignan and Agde.
• Coastal Influence: The proximity of the Bassin de Thau and the Mediterranean Sea gives Picpoul de Pinet its fresh, maritime character. Especially on warm days, this location helps keep the wine vibrant and crisp.
• Wine Region: Picpoul de Pinet is exclusively intended for still white wines. It is this focus that makes the appellation recognizable: fresh, dry, fruity, and made for Mediterranean cuisine.
• Estate: Domaine de Fabrègues is located in the Languedoc and operates from a historic estate with 40 hectares of vineyards. The house style combines classic craftsmanship with a modern, accessible appeal.
Grapes
This wine revolves entirely around the grape that gives the appellation its name.
• Piquepoul Blanc – Picpoul de Pinet AOP: What is Piquepoul Blanc? Piquepoul Blanc, often simply called Picpoul, is a white grape known for its fresh acidity, citrusy aromas, and crisp structure. In Picpoul de Pinet, it produces a dry white wine with great drinkability and a recognizable mineral note.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
In the glass, this Picpoul de Pinet has a clear pale yellow color, with aromas of pear, lemongrass, citrus fruits, and green fruits like melon. The taste is fresh and smooth, with white fruit, a pleasant acidity, and a mineral finish. Everything remains crisp, clean, and thirst-quenching.
• Serving temperature: Serve this Picpoul de Pinet at 6–8 °C, so that the citrus, green fruit, and fresh structure remain beautifully crisp.
• Dishes: Ideal with oysters, mussels, seafood platters, light fish dishes, grilled prawns, and green asparagus.
More information about Domaine de Fabrègues
Domaine de Fabrègues was founded in 2005 by Carine Pichot and Sébastien, on a site with a special history. The estate was once a 19th-century chapel and lay on a route for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. The name Fabrègues refers to forges, a place of passage and craft, which fits well with the way Carine Pichot makes her wines: true to the Languedoc, but with room for surprise, modernity, and a personal signature.
