Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for dry wines in Portugal is considered outstanding with a score of 94 points. The wines from this year are early maturing and currently very accessible for consumption.
Another beautiful wine from Casa Ermelinda. This white wine is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Arinto, and 30% Viognier. As we've come to expect from this winery, it never disappoints. These wines surprise you time and time again.
A rich history of winemaking at Ermelinda
During the nearly 100-year history of the Casa Ermelinda Freitas winery, the women of the Freitas family played a particularly important role. The winery was founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas. Her daughter Germana and granddaughter Ermelinda Freitas succeeded her. Today, Leonore Freitas, Ermelinda's daughter and great-granddaughter of the founder, is the fourth generation to lead the winery. For a long time, it was limited to selling pure cask wine, and it wasn't until 1997 that Leonore began bottling and marketing its own wine. Success came quickly and proved her point. Leonore began with 60 hectares of vineyards in Fernando Po, a region surrounding Palmela. Only the Castelao and Fernao Pires grape varieties were planted there, but in the coming years, she expanded both the varietal spectrum and the acreage. In addition to regional vines like Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet, she also introduced internationally renowned varieties like Syrah. Today, the vineyard has 140 hectares of vineyards, the majority of which are red grape varieties, with only about ten percent planted with white varieties. Only the finest juice is good enough for Casa Ermelinda Freitas wines. That's why the grapes are only harvested when they're perfectly ripe. A rigorous selection process follows. The vinification process is carried out with passion, expertise, and dedication. And you can definitely taste the difference!Tropical scents from Flor de la Mar Reserva Casa Ermelinda
Flor de la Mar Reserva Branco has a light green color, and its aroma reveals aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, and woody notes. The flavor is smooth, slightly tropical, with appealing woody notes and a long, creamy finish. It pairs well with fish dishes, shellfish, grilled meats, and vegetables.Product details
