The winery has existed for over 60 years, which is a long time by Portuguese standards, considering most wineries didn't even open until the late 1980s. Founded by Manuel Concalves, Casa de Compostela is one of the few wineries not yet absorbed by one of the large cooperatives. The winery has a whopping 40 hectares at its disposal, primarily located in northern Portugal.
