When we think of New Zealand and wine, Sauvignon Blanc immediately comes to mind. This grape has significantly put New Zealand on the map as a wine country. It's no wonder, then, that Sauvignon Blanc and New Zealand are inextricably linked. The young winery Aotearoa has also planted this grape and has already achieved considerable success with it. Aotearoa means New Zealand in the Maori language, the original inhabitants of this beautiful country.

The Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough

The vineyards for this delicious white wine are located in New Zealand's most famous wine region, Marlborough. These vineyards are nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. During the day, the grapes receive the wonderful warmth of the sun, while in the evening, a fresh breeze blows through the valley. This is important for Sauvignon Blanc grapes; it allows them to retain their wonderful freshness and prevent them from ripening too quickly. At perfect ripeness, the grapes are harvested early in the morning. This early harvest ensures minimal bruising. Because the sun hasn't yet shone on the skins all day, they are still firm. Once harvested, the grapes are sorted onto long tables. Only the finest grapes are used for this Aotearoa Sauvignon Blanc. After vinification, the wine is aged in steel vats for three months to mature and retain its delicious freshness.

Pouring this white wine immediately reveals its pale yellow color with a light green rim. The aroma offers a broad and vibrant bouquet of passion fruit and citrus notes, along with fresh, recognizable aromas of freshly mown grass. The palate offers a beautiful balance between freshness and concentration, capped off by an intensely long and clean finish.
