Monólogo Arinto is an organic white Vinho Verde from Baião, made from grapes from plot P24 at Quinta de Santa Teresa. This wine showcases Arinto at its most precise: mineral, fresh, layered, and taut, with the natural tension that makes this Portuguese grape variety so compelling.
The wine comes from Baião, a unique subregion within Vinho Verde, close to the border with the Douro.
Location / Origin: Plot P24 is located at Quinta de Santa Teresa, an estate in Baião where the vineyards are surrounded by forest and granite walls.
Altitude: The vineyard is situated at an altitude of approximately 320 meters. This location helps to preserve freshness and aromatic precision in the grapes.
Soil: The soil consists of granite. This gives Arinto its taut, mineral character and ensures a fresh, stony tension in the wine.
Vineyard management: The vineyard is farmed organically and sustainably, with manual selection of the grapes and minimal intervention in the cellar.
The vinification is focused on freshness, purity, and the most direct expression of grape and plot possible.
Harvest & Selection: The grapes arrive at the cellar in 24 kg crates, are hand-selected, and then destemmed. This ensures clean, healthy fruit as the foundation for the wine.
Fermentation: After short skin contact, the grapes are gently pneumatically pressed. The must ferments at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks, beautifully preserving the citrus freshness, floral notes, and mineral precision.
Alcohol content: At 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains lively and taut, with enough structure to well support the layered minerality and fresh acidity.
Monólogo is the series in which A&D Wines focuses on 1 grape variety and 1 plot at a time.
Arinto – Vinho Verde DOC: Arinto gives this wine its lively acidity, citrusy tension, mineral character, and long, fresh finish.
