The flagship winery of Jordan. Once you taste Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay for the first time, you'll never want anything else. It's no wonder this fantastic Chardonnay from South Africa has been named "Best Chardonnay in the World" no fewer than twice. A remarkable achievement, and one that makes Jordan very proud. The winery was founded in 1982, when Ted Jordan purchased an old abandoned vineyard. In 1992, his son Gary took over the winery. Together with his wife Kathy, they have developed it into one of Stellenbosch's finest wineries.

The vineyards of Jordan Wine Estate

Gary and Kathy Jordan are a golden team. Gary is a geologist by training. He knows exactly which terroir and which grapes thrive best. Because he applied his knowledge extensively in the 1990s, the fruits of his labor are now being reaped. Literally, because the Chardonnay grapes for Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay are hand-picked every year. The vines grow relatively close to the Atlantic coast, allowing a pleasant nighttime breeze to blow through the vineyards. This allows the Chardonnay grapes to reach their peak. And the result speaks for itself: Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay is a true icon in South Africa.

The aroma and taste of Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay

The process from grape to wine is incredibly complex. After the Chardonnay grapes are harvested, they are fermented in small, French oak barrels. 95% of these barrels are new, which releases a tremendous amount of flavor. After fermentation, the Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay is aged for an impressive 12 months "sur lie." It takes some time and effort, but the rewards are enormous. Just put your nose into a wine glass of Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay. The aromas are so overwhelming; you can't stop smelling: butter, lemon, lime, apples, cloves, caramel, and toast. Wow, wow, wow. We can't wait to take a sip of Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay. The tropical fruit is immediately noticeable. Rich notes of peach, nectarine, vanilla, and toast roll over your taste buds. The oak aging of Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay is clearly noticeable in the wine's texture. A subtle note of spice can be detected on the finish.
