Vintage Report

The 2022 vintage in Campania received a score of 87, indicating an above-average to excellent quality. The wines from this year are characterized by a youthful and powerful character.
The big brother of Donnachiara Beneventano Falanghina. More depth, more complexity, and more sensation. Yet with the delicious flavor we've come to expect from Donnachiara. A white wine that scores ten points on every level. A real treat.

The best white wine from Donnachiara

Donnachiara Winery is a relatively young winery, but with a long history. It was only founded in 2005 by Chiara Pettitto, representing the fifth generation of farmers. However, the grapes were previously sold to other wineries in Campania. Chiara decided to take matters into her own hands, renovated the vineyards, and built a high-end winery. Fifteen years of hard work have paid off, and Donnachiara wines are now an integral part of Italian wine culture. Donnachiara is located in Campania, a province in southern Italy. While this region doesn't enjoy the fame of Tuscany, Veneto, and Piedmont, its quality is improving. Where once unimpressive wines flowed from the cellars, inspiring wines are now being produced in the vineyards. This is partly thanks to the expertise of Donnachiara, which boasts perhaps Italy's greatest talent, oenologist Ricardo Cottarella.

Impressions of Donnachiara Resilienza Falanghina Beneventano

The Donnachiara vineyards, where the indigenous Falanghina grape grows, are nestled in the hilly landscape of Campania, about an hour's drive north of the historic city of Pompeii. The vineyards are relatively close to the Tyrrhenian coast, which is beneficial for the grapes. The sea provides much-needed cooling in the evenings in this incredibly hot region, a fact that benefits the Falanghina grapes immensely. Harvest takes place in the morning, when the vineyards are still cool. It's hand-harvested, as this is the only way to select the best grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, but the juice is aged for several months in the bottle, giving the wine that little something extra. And you smell it immediately upon opening the bottle: acacia, ripe pear, apricot, and a hint of candied citrus. Crisply dry yet with a lingering finish. Perfect!
