Vintage Report
The 2017 vintage in the Languedoc is rated as excellent with a score of 92. The wines from this year are early-maturing and currently very approachable for drinking.
This medium-bodied Minervois Las Combes is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, with Grenache playing the leading role. The Syrah provides the perfect balance, resulting in a juicy, fresh, and fruity wine with enticing aromas. This is a beautiful example of a wine we can't resist.
60-year-old vines for Las Combes
Englishman Robert Eden moved to the Languedoc in 1997 with the vision of creating great wines crafted in harmony with nature, naturally reflecting this harmony in their aromas. His Château Maris, which now covers approximately 79 hectares at high altitude, quickly became an icon of biodynamic viticulture in the Languedoc and has since significantly contributed to making Cru La Livinière one of the most beloved terroirs in the South of France. With sustainability rigorous down to the smallest detail, Robert Eden also planned and implemented the winery building so meticulously that air conditioning and almost anything that would harm the climate and consume resources were eliminated. The plot where the Grenache and Syrah grapes grow has 60-year-old vines and is located in the La Livinière cru. The soil consists of sedimentary rock and red calcareous clay. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. The juice then ferments in wooden vats with regular pigeage, meaning the skins are regularly immersed. The entire maceration process takes approximately five weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for another 12 months before it can be enjoyed.Enjoy the lively character of Maris Las Combes
Las Combes emerges with a garnet-red color. The aroma reveals notes of blackberry, cherry, and raspberry, complemented by black pepper and refined notes of roasted coffee beans. The palate is delightfully fresh with a juicy and vibrant character. The flavors continue into a fruity, long finish.Product details
