Vintage Report

For the 2023 vintage in Alsace, Robert Parker has not yet assigned any official scores (classified as 'Not yet sufficiently tested to rate'). The wines from this region and vintage still require more extensive evaluation to determine their definitive quality.
This Pinot Noir from Trimbach is actually a bit of an oddity. While Alsace is known for its white grape varieties, such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir is the only red grape variety established in Alsace. But Trimbach certainly demonstrates that Alsace's red wine is more than worth it. If we had to describe this wine in one word, it would be "gentleness." So beautiful, so elegant, and highly recommended for all Pinot Noir lovers worldwide. The wine is certainly not overpowering, as the skins are only briefly macerated during vinification. Fruitiness naturally predominates. You undoubtedly smell and taste soft red fruits like strawberries and raspberries. There are also subtle earthy notes in the background, giving it the character you expect from a Pinot Noir. Are you a Pinot Noir fan? Try this wine once, and you'll never want anything else.

The vision of the Trimbach Pinot Noir Reserve

The Trimbachs have a purist vision. For three centuries and 13 generations, the family has produced wines that are structured, long-lived, fruity, elegant, and balanced: the celebrated Trimbach style. The family personally oversees every operation, from planting to harvesting and from vinification to bottling. The Trimbach family's viticultural origins date back to 1626, when Jean Trimbach was recognized as a citizen of Riquewihr. From that moment on, the Trimbachs were known for their winemaking.

The Trimbach vineyards with a perfect microclimate

Maison Trimbach's vineyards are all located around Ribeauville (Ribeauville, Hunawihr, Bergheim, Rorschwihr, Riquewihr, and Mittlewihr). They benefit from the unique Alsatian microclimate, thanks to the protection of the Vosges Mountains, which protect the plain from the rain. The vineyards were planted on the Ribeauville fault line, which separated the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest 50 million years ago, with a mosaic of terroirs, including the complex calcareous limestone and biodegraded seashell fossils known as "Muschelkalk." Trimbach Reserves are the result of a rigorous selection of primarily old vineyards in Ribeauvillé and the surrounding villages, which produce more complex wines with longer aging potential.
