The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Nittnaus Selection Pinot Noir is an excellent red wine from the prestigious Austrian winery Nittnaus. This wine is the result of craftsmanship, dedication, and the unique characteristics of the Pannonian vineyards in the Burgenland region. The Pinot Noir grape, also known as Spätburgunder in Austria, is known for its complexity and elegance, and this is certainly reflected in the Nittnaus Selection Pinot Noir. A Pinot Noir with a refined character.

Since 2019, brothers Hans and Andreas Nittnaus have proudly led the family-owned Gebrüder Nittnaus Winery. For over 300 years, this family has owned the beautiful vineyards in the enchanting town of Gols, located in Austria's Burgenland region. Surrounded by the uniquely warm climate of Lake Neusiedl, the fertile soils create ideal conditions for a diverse range of high-quality wines. Only the finest and ripest Pinot Noir bunches are selectively hand-picked, ensuring that only the very best grapes are used for winemaking. After the careful harvest, vinification begins, the delicate winemaking process. The grapes are gently processed to preserve their fruity character and prevent over-extraction of the tannins. Temperature-controlled fermentation ensures a controlled and balanced fermentation process, which helps preserve the aromas and flavors of the grapes. A key aspect of Nittnaus Selection Pinot Noir winemaking is aging. The entire aging process takes place in French barriques, small wooden barrels, where only 5% of the wood is new. This creates a subtle, elegant oaky note in the wine, without overpowering the delicate fruity expression and terroir character.

In the glass, the wine reveals a beautiful ruby red color that is immediately appealing. The bouquet is seductive and complex, with aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, and a hint of earthiness. These fruity and floral notes are complemented by a subtle spiciness that gives the wine an extra dimension. Upon tasting, the true beauty of the Nittnaus Selection Pinot Noir emerges. The wine has a silky texture and a beautiful balance between fruity expression and soft tannins. Ripe cherries, raspberries, and a hint of vanilla dance on the palate, while the delicate spiciness and earthiness create a complex and captivating experience.
